Deterministic Code Intelligence
Building code intelligence requires transforming arbitrary source files into deterministic symbol dependency graphs without silent failures.
When indexing modular Python and TypeScript projects, cross-file type references (such as type annotations in arguments or unmapped `@/` path aliases in JS/TS) failed to link to their true declaration nodes, resulting in detached 'ghost' symbol stubs and disconnected dependency graphs.
Updated the symbol resolution pipeline to normalize type reference stubs against definition file metadata on watch and direct-extract passes. Added project-level alias resolution mapping `@/` paths against project configuration and normalized import types in call type arguments.
During incremental re-scans of modified files, re-extracting modified code chunks caused carried hyperedges and source-path references from previous passes to be duplicated rather than merged, corrupting graph edge counts and causing memory bloat.
Scoped deduplication strictly during incremental merges: bounded carried-hyperedge deduplication through re-extracted chunk boundaries, pruned stale source references, and ensured edge directions were preserved during multi-graph merges.
When Tree-Sitter AST extraction encountered partial syntax errors, timeouts, or unexpected tokens in large source files, the parser threw unhandled exceptions that evicted previously verified semantic nodes from the cache, resulting in silent data loss.
Implemented a fail-closed protection pattern: if a re-scan fails or times out, existing verified semantic nodes are preserved rather than evicted. Added adaptive chunk bisection (`fix: bisect extraction chunks on timeout`) to salvage valid code blocks within problematic files.
On Windows platforms, background Git hooks and visualization subprocesses caused disruptive console popup windows, and atomic tempfile operations crashed due to MAX_PATH filesystem length limitations in deeply nested project directories.
Replaced `DETACHED_PROCESS` with `CREATE_NO_WINDOW` across all Windows hook invocations. Bounded atomic temporary filename lengths using truncated deterministic hashes rather than unbounded string concatenation.
